Campus

Academic campus design provides a wide range of opportunities and challenges. It means thinking about the university as Thomas Jefferson described it in 1817, as an “academic village.” These complex communities do much more than focus on the transfer of knowledge; they include living, working, social, and recreational components that are shaped by each institution’s tradition and identity. Our Campus Studio works with public and private colleges and universities to create memorable, sustainable, and transformational places for their campus environments.

First of all, a university was conceived as a place where the community life and spirit were supreme…a citadel of learning and culture…containing within itself all necessary influences toward the making of character…”
